The Kábata Könana Cabécar Indigenous Women's Association is a non-profit, non-governmental development organization that promotes the defence of the rights of Cabécar Indigenous Women, contributing to the integral development of their families through respect for territorial rights, culture, nature, and worldview. 

The organization's vision is to be the leading Indigenous Women's association representing all Cabécar communities, by achieving the following goals, among others: 

- Promoting training and educational processes that strengthen Cabécar women's leadership
- Strengthening ancestral culture and customs, focusing on Indigenous Youth and children of the Cabécar territory
- Fostering and boosting traditional indigenous production as a strategy to safeguard Cabécar Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge and the Buen Vivir (well-being) of Cabécar families
- Secure representation for Indigenous Women in political decision-making spaces at local, national, and international levels. 

 The Kábata Könana Cabécar Indigenous Women's Association joined the Indigenous Peoples’ Biocentric Restoration Global Programme in 2023, with the aim to restore degraded ecosystem in their territory that spans through valleys and mountains. The Cabécar territory is bordered on the west by the Telire Cabécar Indigenous Peoples’ Reserve, and on the southeast by the Talamanca Bribri Indigenous Peoples’ Reserve. Aruond 2% of the global biodiversity is found within the Talamanca area, which presents around 30-40% of endemic species.
