: The Center for Support and Research for Peasant Development (Centro CINDES) is a non-profit non-governmental development organization that promotes innovative methodological and technological processes for the establishment of eco-development. This work is grounded in the full enjoyment of social, cultural, economic, and environmental rights, with the active participation of families, community organizations, and local authorities, enabling them to become managers of rural development. Centro CINDES has been leading development projects with Indigenous Peoples, and its mission is to promote the communities’ conservation of terrestrial landscapes and the biocultural diversity found within Indigenous Peoples’ territories. CINDES recognizes the natural and cultural values of Indigenous Peoples, who play a fundamental role in the local management of natural resources. Since 2023, Centro CINDES has been executing Indigenous Peoples’ Biocentric Restoration actions with Quechua and Aymara Indigenous Peoples in the Peruvian Andes, achieving significant milestones. Over the years, these actions have been carried out in the regions of Arequipa, Moquegua, Puno, and Cusco, working within a biome classified as a priority by the UNCCD: the High Andean corridor.
